Standing 6’1 tall, lean physique, and gorgeous face, some might think that Korean actor Song Kang, the man behind the hit shows “Nevertheless,” “Sweet Home,” and “Love Alarm” are not into food, but that’s the opposite.
Visited the Philippines for the first time for his Deoproce fan meet event in Manila last Sunday, March 5, 2023 at the SMART Araneta Coliseum, the 28-year-old actor revealed to the members of the press that he spent his first few hours roaming around the Metro streets and trying Filipino food. His first stop? Jollibee.
“I arrived around noon yesterday [Saturday, March 4, 2023] and the first thing I wanted to do was see the streets of Manila and went out to get Jollibee,” he said through an interpreter in a media event last Sunday morning at the Marco Polo Hotel, Ortigas. “I went out to eat and try Filipino home-cooked meals such as kare-kare, halo-halo, and bulalo. And, of course, garlic rice”
Living in South Korea that has four seasons, Song Kang also said that he loves tropical weather. “The streets of Manila are beautiful,” he said. “I love the weather, this is the kind of weather I like. It’s been breezy and pretty cool. Also I really like the dried mango, I enjoyed that.”
With these wonderful experiences and memories, he promised to be back and explore the Philippines more. “Next time when I have time, I’ll visit all the other places,” he said. “I would love to go to Boracay, eat a lot of seafood, and have a healing experience traveling outside of the city.”
Song Kang then expressed his gratitude for the opportunity given to him to visit the Philippines, experience it, and meet his Filipino fans for the first time.
“I feel like I have received so much love but I have not been able to give back. Because of the situation, I have not been able to come and see my Filipino fans,” he said. “So to finally be here, to be able to do that, I’m very happy, a little nervous but very much looking forward to it and all of this is because of Deoproce.”
But the conversation is not complete without his sharing his skincare routine and the secret to his glass-look skin.
“In the morning, I first cleanse, then apply a toner, moisturizer, followed by sunscreen,” he said. “I think skincare is very important, but cleansing is also very important, so I make sure to put a lot of attention and details into my cleansing routine.”
As for his fitness routine and diet, he said that he likes eating chicken breast and doing weight training but he has also done various sports like kendo, tennis, and Pilates. During the fan meet, a video created by a group of Filipino fans was presented. It was filled with heartwarming messages and greetings from fans around the world, and it moved Song Kang to tears. He thanked everyone for all the love and support he’s receiving.
