February is officially here, and now is the time that streaming platforms and movie houses are dropping their entries for shows people can watch this season of love.
For the Netflix entry, they have the highly anticipated movie of the year—“Your Place or Mine,” and here are the three reasons why you should watch this film.
- It’s a team-up of rom-com king and queen.
For the first-time ever, Hollywood’s most bankable romantic-comedy actor, Asthon Kutcher and actress Reese Witherspoon are teaming up for this newest rom-com movie. And when we say bankable, that’s not an understatement. Witherspoon is the star behind some of the hit rom-com shows including “Legally Blondes,” “Legally Blonde 1 and 2,” and “How Do You Know.” Meanwhile, Kutcher is the man behind “No Strings Attached,” “What Happens in Vegas,” and “Two and a Half Men.” For this reason, these stars are named as the genre’s royalties. Just imagine what they can do together for a project.

- The movie talks about taking risks
Unlike some of the usual rom-coms, “Your Place or Mine” will remind the viewers about the importance of taking a risk in life, as it follows the story of Debbie (Reese Witherspoon) and Peter (Ashton Kutcher) who have been best friends for 20 years even though they are total opposites. Practical, risk-averse accountant Debbie craves routine and stability with her son Jack (Wesley Kimmel) in LA, while stylish brand consultant Peter thrives on change in New York City. When they swap houses and lives for a week, they learn they haven’t told each other everything after all and discover what they think they want might not be what they really need.
“I actually think that risk in love is not unlike risking everything that we do in life,” Kutcher told MB Life during the movie’s media conference last Jan. 31, 2023, when he was asked about the importance of taking risks. “We all have a sense of jeopardy anytime we make any given decision. For some people, it’s about leaving that job that they really don’t like, to go out and do that other job that maybe they would like more. Sometimes, it’s about telling the truth to your parents about something that would be really uncomfortable to tell them. Sometimes, it’s about being honest with yourself. And I think love is no different than all of those things. Like we run these calculated risks about whether or not I deserve that thing that I think I want and whether or not I’m capable of that thing that I think I want.”

- It’s a good break for everything that is happening.
With all that’s happening in the world today, we all deserve a good break especially this season of love. And one of the quickest and most affordable ways to do it is by watching rom-com movies in the comfort of your own home with your loved ones. And this is one of the reasons why, Witherspoon agreed to do this project—to give us some laughs and remind us we can all find love in this world.
“I think it’s a great time to have a movie like this,” she said. “In an environment where there’s so much bad news, and there’s so much that the human spirit is dealing with, I think we’ve had years and years of really hard time. So I think a little lightness, a little hope for the future, it’s something that people are really craving right now.”
“Your Place or Mine” will be available on Netflix this Feb. 10, 2023.
