In a culture where most of us were raised with the idea that being white or mestisa means being beautiful, it is challenging to find the right makeup for individuals with morena or brown skin.

The good thing is, some local cosmetic companies are now braving the waves to come up with products that champion inclusive beauty. One of them is Issy & Co. Cosmetics.

Just recently, as a response to public demand for more product range that is inclusive, they dropped its Active Skin Tint line and Weightless Loose Powder. These products come with six shades in order to match every Filipino skin’s varying complexions and undertones as closely as possible.

“We’re proud to be the brand that offers the most diverse selection of shades,” says Joel Andrade, Issy & Co. co-founder and creative director. “And due to the overwhelming support from our customers, we’re able to push the boundaries even further this time. We listened to what they needed and wanted, went back to the drawing board, and researched how we can develop our base makeup line—and make it even better.”

Kilay is life

Even though we’re still in the middle of this pandemic, stuck in our homes, one thing remains the same: Kilay is life. With all the online meetings we are attending, having that plakadong kilay is a must.

On top of releasing the tint line, the brand also has Brown Pencil Pro, a defining pencil with a built-in styler. This is an updated and improved version of the original brow pencil, this one also comes with the paddle styling brush, but with a slimmer pencil for ease of use and control. The finer-tip allows you to draw hair-like strokes as well as define, shade, and fill in your brows however you want it.

There’s also the Precision Brow Pen, a micro-fine feathering pen with a quick-drying and bleed-proof formula. The detailing pen has a brush tip that can create fine, feather-like strokes, and natural-looking, detailed brows.

The times are now changing and everyone is encouraged to accept and respect each other’s uniqueness. And now you have quality choices for inclusive makeup products that you can get without breaking the bank.
