Recently, actor Paolo Contis is creating buzz on the internet because of his personal issues. But aside from that, there’s another reason why people should talk about the actor—his exemplary act with his newest movie with Yen Santos, “A Faraway Land.”
Now streaming on Netflix, this movie follows the story of a married Filipina in the Faroe Islands and a reporter filming a documentary on overseas Filipino workers. Soon, their encounter will spark a complicated love story.
Away from his usual comedian role, in this movie, Paolo shows his versatility as an actor as he gives life to the character of reporter Nico.
In a media interview, MB Life asked Paolo what are the things he learned from this character, and he gave a heartfelt answer.
“Things I’ve learned from Nico? Kapag nagmahal ka, itodo mo na (When you fall in love, give your best),” he says “You don’t know when ka mawawala sa mundo (when you will die). You don’t when you’re gonna get a second opportunity in life.”
The 37-year-old actor also said that when it comes to love, there will be a time you need to choose between right or wrong.
“You can call Nico a hopeless romantic. Some people can even call him an asshole for pursuing Mahjoy,” he says. “Pero sabi ko nga hindi mo alam kung kailan ka tatamaan ng [pag-ibig]. Kapag tinamaan ka, it’s your decision whether to do the wrong decision or talagang makikinig ka sa puso mo. ‘Yan yung natutunan ko kay Nico (When you fall in love, it’s your decision whether to do the wrong decision or to follow your heart. Those are the things I’ve learned from Nico).”
“A Faraway Land” is set in Faroe Islands, it started streaming last week and secured spots on the Top 10 trending list of Netflix in different countries such as the Philippines, Qatar, and UAE.
