Her name is Nightbirde and she’s a real-life warrior
By now, you have probably watched the viral video of Nightbirde, Simon Cowell’s golden buzzer contestant in the latest season of “America’s Got Talent.”
Based on the video, we found out that Nightbirde is her screen name. She’s a talented singer, and an inspiring cancer survivor. But wait there’s more. MB Life dug a little deeper to unearth more about this golden girl that touched thousands, if not millions, of lives across the globe. And here’s what we found.
Hailing from Zanesville, Ohio, Nightbirde is a musical artist and her real name is Jane Marczewski. On her blog she posted on Nov. 12, 2020, the talented singer-songwriter revealed that she was diagnosed with cancer with a small chance of survival.
“On New Year’s Eve, I was diagnosed with terminal cancer. Innumerable tumors were found throughout my lungs, liver, lymph nodes, ribs, and spine,” she wrote. “I was on the living room floor leaning over the report, head in my hands. Six months to live. Two percent chance of survival.”
As if this news was not devastating enough, her husband then left her. “After the doctor told me I was dying, and after the man I married said he didn’t love me anymore, I chased a miracle in California and sixteen weeks later, I got it,” she wrote in another blog entry.
And a miracle indeed. In a Twitter post last June 21, 2020, Nightbirde revealed that she was already cancer-free. But life has another plan for her, as after new tests, she then again found herself battling the disease.
“The cancer was gone. But when my brain caught up with it all, something broke. I later found out that all the tragedy at once had caused a physical head trauma, and my brain was sending false signals of excruciating pain and panic,” she says. “I have had cancer three times now, and I have barely passed 30.”
But even though she’s still battling cancer, it didn’t stop her from joining “AGT” and telling everyone, “you can’t wait until life isn’t hard anymore before you decide to be happy.”
With her inspiring story and powerful performance, Nightbirde’s original song “It’s Okay” is reportedly one of the most downloaded songs in the US.
