Parokya ni Edgar vocalist Chito Miranda has come to the defense of Filipino K-Pop fans, after some netizens pointed out and commented on the inclusion of K-pop groups in the local Top Bands/Groups chart of Spotify Wrapped.
In a post where he thanked the band’s fans for helping them rank 8th in one of the music streaming platform’s year-end list, Miranda has replied to a fan’s comment which criticized those who like and listen to K-Pop.
“Ako trip ko sila. Sobrang galing kaya nila,” he writes. “Kung ‘di mo sila trip, oks lang naman. Ang ‘di ko ma-gets is bakit ang laki ng galit mo sa mga may trip sa kanila.”
The singer adds that music preference comes down to “peace and respect” and that “kanya-kanyang trip lang ‘yan.”
“Bakit kayo galit sa trip ng iba? Kanya-kanyang trip lang ‘yan eh. ‘Wow! Di ko sila trip! Tan***a lahat ng may trip sa kanila,’” he writes in a separate comment. “Ganun ba dapat? ‘Di ba pwedeng iba trip nila sa trip mo, tapos okay lang tayo lahat?”
This is not the first time Miranda defended K-pop fans in the country. A year ago, he made a similar statement after an Instagram post where he highlighted that “OPM is not dead” got comments from some fans who resorted to attacking K-Pop fans in the country.
“Kung apektado ka sa Kpop, then you are focusing on the wrong things,” he wrote. “Ako trip na trip ko Kpop and walang masama tumangkilik ng Kpop.” Miranda, who once revealed that he is a fan of Girls’ Generation, 2NE1 and Sistar, also added that it’s possible to enjoy a song “kahit ‘di mo maintindihan ‘yung lyrics.“
“Kanya-kanyang trip lang ‘yan eh,” he said.
