Singer Juan Karlos Labajo didn’t hold back on airing his disappointment when “Idol Philippines” rejected a reggae singer.

The said reggae artist named Luke Baylon from Tuguegarao City delivered his version of “if I Ain’t Got You” by Alicia Keys during the competition’s audition round.

However, his performance didn’t pass the judges standards with only Regine Velasquez voted in favor of him. For Vice Ganda, Moira Dela Torre, and James Reid, there’s something missing with Baylon’s performance.

“I love your rendition. I never heard something like that before. You have a voice and you can sing, it’s just lacking a bit with hitting the notes and timing,” Reid told Baylon.

With only one “Yes,” Baylon failed to make it to the next round of the competition, and “The Voice” alumnus Labajo didn’t agree to this.

Through Instagram stories, Labajo commended Baylon’s talent. “It’s a yes for me. I’m not even gonna argue with the other judges. It’s easy to fix flats and sharps and such imperfections but it’s not that easy to find soul. Kakagigil,” he wrote.

On the other post, the “Buwan” singer called out the “Idol Philippines” judges for not giving Baylon a chance. “HUGE shame on the other ‘judges’ for not seeing this guy’s potential. What a shame. Such a shame. I’m ashamed,” he ended.

Aside from “If I Ain’t Got You,” Baylon also did a reggae cover for “Buwan” prior joining the said competition.
