The Philippines may be swarming in malls and restaurants, but we’re kind of lacking in terms of menu selections. For one, we’re now just getting Starbucks’ signature Pumpkin Spice Latte when it’s been famous as a seasonal treat for God knows how long already.Fact check: Mga 2003 pa, baks.
This recent news led us craving more unique bites and sweets we wish we could have here in the country. Read up and see if we can have you yearning for items that we don’t currently have in resident chains:
Unicorn Frappuccino (Starbucks)
When the news of a ~magical~ drink hit social media last year, there’s no stopping the hype it has immediately generated for itself. However, Starbucks may be cutting off its limited edition drinks for a while, which means the Unicorn Frappe may not be hitting the stores again soon. Tbh, we’re partially buying it for its pretty hues and for our Instagram feed, so medj sad talaga that we didn’t get to try it.
Green Tea Oreo Blizzard (Dairy Queen Indonesia)
If you think the green tea train has left the station – well, ’di pa naman siguro. And how lucky is Indonesia to have this delightful soft serve?! Not to say that our current choices aren’t amazing, pero baka naman, fam
Portuguese Egg Tarts (KFC Singapore/Taiwan/Thailand/Hong Kong/China)
Who would’ve thought that KFC, a brand famous for its scrumptious chicken meals, would also be known for a creamy pastry? The only difference this delicacy has in comparison with traditional egg tarts would be its brown crème brulee-style craters. We’d be lying if we say we’re not jealous of our neighboring Asian countries since they get to savor this flakey, puffy dessert.
Chili Cheese Nuggets (Burger King Norway)
Fun-sized cheesy goodness for all types of mood? Yes, please! It’s a pity we don’t have these goodies in the branches we have, since it’s especially looking delish. Hay, we can only dream na lang ano?
EBI Filet-O Shrimp Burger (McDonald’s Japan)
We already go crazy with options for beef and chicken burgers, so it makes sense that a shrimp burger isn’t so out of place. In fact, this product is a popular choice among McDonald’s customers, sino ba namang ’di matatakam with its flavorful mix of Panko-battered shrimp, Ebi shrimp tempura sauce, lettuce, minced onion, and mac sauce? Nope, no one is drooling here.
