Hallyu, or the global spread of Korean culture across the globe, has shown no signs of stopping in the recent years. It looks like even their fun-loving and humorous nature is taking over the world, too, with the Korean variety show, Busted!
This is the first Korean variety show to be featured as a Netflix Original.
The show is set to feature an all-star K-variety cast as bumbling detectives that are tasked to solve a fun-filled mystery each episode. The cast members include comedian-host Yoo Jae-suk, Lee Kwang-soo, and Kim Jong Min. Actors Ahn Jae-wook and Park Min-young will also join in as variety show newbies, setting aside their acting roles. K-pop stars Sehun of EXO and Sejeong of Gugudan will also bring their vibrant energy into the group of detectives.
Guest stars will also make special appearances in each of the episodes to help complete the story, and make the episodes even more fun. As of writing, we don’t know who the surprise guests will be but reports from Korean entertainment news site Koreaboo hints at actor Yoo Yeon-seok’s show participation.
Starting May 4, two episodes of Busted! will be released per week. The show will run for a total of five weeks. The new, “unscripted” show is produced by Jang Hyuk-jae, Cho Hyo-jin, and Kim Ju-hyung — the same people behind the successful run of popular K-variety shows Running Man, Family Outing, and X-Man in Korea.
Busted! will be available on Netflix to 117 million members in over 190 countries around the world.
