Instagram is not only a tool for sharing pictures and videos of our precious memories, this is also where we shop and support up and coming businesses. That’s why after rolling out several updates, the popular app launched a new feature that will make shopping so much easier.
In a blog post by the photo-sharing app, it said that the feature called “Checkout” allows us to make purchases directly on Instagram instead of being redirected to the website of the brand.
When you tap to view a product from a brand’s shopping post, you will now see a “Checkout on Instagram” button on the product page. Tap it to select options such as size, color, or variants. After this, you’ll proceed to payment without leaving the app. Cool, right? Just enter your name, email, billing information, and shipping address the first time you check out, and you’re ready to wait for your order to arrive.
All of your information and personal details will be securely saved for convenience the next time you shop. To keep track of your purchase, you will also receive notifications about shipment and delivery right inside Instagram.
According to Layla Amjadi, product manager on Instagram Shopping, their goal “is to finally fulfill one of the biggest asks we’ve heard since the inception of Instagram Shopping.”
“The vision is to ultimately have checkout be available to any of the business on Instagram,” she added.
Checkout on Instagram is not yet available in the Philippines. It is currently in closed beta for businesses and available to people in the US. Adidas, Balmain, Huda Beauty, Dior, ColourPop, Michael Kors, Uniqlo, H&M, and Zara are among the first brands to use this feature.
