Talented Filipino actors have once again made our country’s name known in the international movie scene. They brought home acting awards in the recently held 39th Fantasporto-Oporto International Film Festival Portugal.
Actresses Ai Ai delis Alas and Ina Raymundo tied for the best actress award for their outstanding performances on their Cinemalaya Philippine Independent Film Festival entries “School Service,” and “Kuya Wes,” respectively.
On a separate Instagram posts, the two actresses shared their happiness for bagging the prestigious award and gave thanks to the people who supported them.
“Thank YOU very much FANTASPORTO INTERNATIONAL FILM FESTIVAL AWARD ( PORTUGAL).. for the best actress award,” delas Alas said. “Nais kong i share ang award na ito sa aking mga co actors sa pelikulang SCHOOL SERVICE … sa aking peborit director at ang maswerteng ka tandem ko pag gumagawa kami ng movie DIREK LOUI IGNACIO.”
Meanwhile, Raymundo thanked her co-star Ogie Alcasid and invited everyone to watch “Kuya Wes” in cinemas nationwide. “Thank you @ogiealcasid. Congrats to all the Filipino winners! I didn’t expect this at all. Thank you Lord. Also, please watch Kuya Wes showing in cinemas on March 13th.”
Aside from them, Dante Rivero won the best actor award for his act in “Kung Paano Hinihintay ang Dapithapon,”an another entry in 2018’s Cinemalaya.
The said movie also received the Director’s Week Special Jury prize, while “School Service” named as the Orient Express Special Jury prize.
