Maine Mendoza is on a roll. Barely half a year has gone by since the launch of her limited edition lipstick, the twenty-three year old actress proudly shares another exciting project with global brand MAC Cosmetics.
Earlier tonight, she was presented as the face of the StudioFix line. Maine came dressed in a black sleek bustier top, paired with leather shorts with front zip details and double-breasted jacket. She topped it off in white ankle strap heels by Off-White. One would think she would be oozing with confidence, but this sassy girl was quite shy and reminded the crowd, “magchikahan lang tayo.”
“It really is a big deal. Honestly, It was a big opportunity to have her. We are one of the three markets to have a face,“ shares Brand Manager Gay Lao. The humble Maine added, “Such an honor, to be honest. I really am thankful. I am just a barangay girl, why me?”
As the evening progressed, and as she shared more stories, we realized this was a match made in heaven. Here are some beauty discoveries we learned from this barangay girl also dubbed as the only Filipina to be given the title MAC maker, Maine Mendoza:
1. Her personal foundation shade is the country’s bestseller.
When asked why Maine is the face of the Studio Fix line, Lao replied, “Why not? Look how beautiful she is. The main reason why we chose her is we wanted someone who really represents Filipina beauty. Rational, macmaker last year. Our top selling shade is NC35 and she wear NC35. then definitely, she is a good representation of every Filipina.”
2. Her favorite makeup products are simple.
On a regular day, the actress uses the powder and lippie on and seals with with Prep + Prime FIx Spray. “It sets up the whole look. It refreshes everything. You don’t have to retouch over and over again,” shares Mendoza. She also shares that she loves eyeliners and lip oil.
3. She started out with basics, like any beauty newbie.
Mendoza proudly shares a photo her fans found: “Amazingly, naghanap mga fans ng mga lumang photos ko online. So may nahanap sila na ginagamit ko ang compact. Circa 2012. Since college, hindi talaga ako magamit ng makeup, cheek tint lang and powder. Ngayon ko lang ginagamit ang liquid foundation for shoot and studio.” For her barangay segment shows in Eat Bulaga, she uses the compact, cheek tint, and powder to set the cheek tint. Seal it with the Prep + Prime Fix Spray. Easy!
4. Her first lip shade is a bright hue.
By now, it is obvious that Mendoza has a soft spot for this makeup brand. She vividly remembers purchasing a vibrant lipstick in a bright pink color named Candy Yum Yum seven years ago. “Friendster days, kung makakarelate kayo sa akin, kailangan bright lips,” she laughingly recalls.
A lot has changed since her preference for bright puckers. Currently, she goes to makeup guru RB Chanco for beauty tips and tricks. Both revealed that the makeup trend now is glass skin, or what is known as skin that is luminous and dewy.
Chanco shares these steps in getting this look that’s fresh, poreless and crystal clear that’s skin-like and not powdery, when it comes to the finish:
- Spritz the Prep + Prime Fix Plus all over face, to get that dewy look.
- Apply Studio Fix fluid next. The spray gives it a medium coverage.
- Set with Studio fix powder using the brush.
- Super spritz the same spray again to set it.
