The love month is already here. As part of Spotify’s newest campaign, our favorite Pinoy artists are putting their own spin on iconic OPM songs.
Spotify Jams: OPM Love Songs campaign is designed for Pinoy music lovers and it features the most-streamed Filipino artists as they cover hit love songs.
Six of the most popular musicians in the country – IV of Spades, Ben&Ben, juan karlos, Moira Dela Torre, Sarah Geronimo, and Silent Sanctuary – were given the opportunity to cover their favorite OPM love song, based on their interpretation.
You can listen to Moira Dela Torre’s fresh take on Rey Valera’s “Naaalala Ka” and juan karlos version of VST & Company’s “Ikaw Ang Aking Mahal” starting February 8.
On Valentine’s Day, February 14, you can finally hear Sarah Geronimo’s cover of Rivermaya’s “214” and Silent Sanctuary’s version of “Pangako” by Regine Velasquez.
Meanwhile, Ben&Ben heartfelt rendition of Jose Mari Chan’s “Beautiful Girl” and IV of Spades take on Rivermaya’s “Kung Ayaw Mo, Huwag Mo” will be available on February 22.
Spotify Southeast Asia’s head of artists and labels Chee Meng, Tan said that this campaign was made to help Filipinos celebrate OPM. He also revealed that the most searched terms from the last five years in Spotify PH are “OPM,” “love,” and “Pinoy.”
“For the launch of this campaign, we wanted to work with some of the top OPM artists of today and get them to cover their favorite OPM love song of the past. We understand the importance of OPM here in the Philippines and we want to celebrate this beautiful genre with our fans,” says Chee Meng Tan.
The songs will be made available on the streaming site’s Tatak Pinoy Playlist this February.
