On February 5, the Year of the Earth Pig officially begins. And to attract prosperity, Feng Shui expert Master Hanz Cua gives some tips on how to properly welcome the new year based on the Chines Lunar calendar.
1. Mag-move on kay Ex
“Before the new year comes, make sure that you already decluttered your home. Kailangan nalinis na po natin ang ating bahay, upang makapasok ang bagong wealth o money, or good fortune,” Cua said.
For those who were in a past relationship, the Feng Shui expert said that it’s about time to let go of the sad memories. “Itapon na po ang mga dapat itapon, mag-move on na kay ex. Kailangan na pong sunugin ang mga gamit ng ex. Kalimutan na po ang mga dating alitan.”
2. Wear something red
According to Cua, the lucky color for the year is red. Based on astrology reading, 2019 would bring more luck than the previous year, and the red color attracts good fortune. “Balance po ang chart ng 2019 kumpara sa 2018. Ibig sabihin po niyan mas magiging maganda po, o mas magiging maswerte ang 2019. Balance din po yung five elements, ibig sabihin po niyan maraming tao ang magtutulungan.”
3. Prepare 12 kinds of fruits
Just like the Filipino traditional new year, to welcome the year of the Earth Pig, you should prepare 12 kinds of fruits. They don’t necessarily need to be round fruits, but the must-haves are: apples which signify good harmony; banana for strong family ties; oranges for wealth and money; and lemon to eradicate negative energy.
“Kahit anong klaseng prutas, kahit hindi bilog, ay maswerte. Syempre hindi mawawala dyan ang tikoy, sweets. Dahil year of the Earth Pig, kailangan po tayong may lechon, may pork, may fish, noodles. Ang noodles kasi signifies longevity, long life. ‘Wag puputulin ang pagluto ng noodles,” he added.
4. Don’t turn off the lights
On the night of February 4, Cua said that turning off the lights is uninviting, as the brightness allows the “good luck and good fortune” to enter your home. And;
5. Have a prosperity pig display
Cua said that hanging pig figurines in your home or office would attract luck. “Magsabit-sabit ng mga pig figurine. Ibig sabihin po niyan ay good life or good fortune,” he ended.
