Natural chemistry and a good relationship are vital for every on-screen love team to project ‘kilig’ and sweetness. But how can they give justice to a love story if they have deeply rooted personal conflicts in real life?
This is what McCoy de Leon and Elisse Joson–or McLisse, as their fans dubbed them– successfully battled through to give life to their first movie “Sakaling Maging Tayo.” During the presscon recently held in Dong Juan restaurant in QC, McLisse openly shared their experiences and even answered some personal questions from the members of the press.
On parting ways
McLisse was formed inside Pinoy Big Brother (PBB) house during its Dream Team Edition (2016-2017). But last year, for some unclear reasons, McCoy and Elisse decided to part ways and even admitted during interviews that they were not communicating with each other. This conflict inevitably affected their working relationship during the making of “Sakaling Maging Tayo.”
“May time na sa totoong buhay, may hindi kami pagkakaintindihan ni McCoy during the shooting. ‘Pag isinapuso at isinaisip namin na kailangan natin ‘tong i-set aside, kailangan nating mabigay nang maayos, nagagagawa naman,” Elisse shared.
McCoy agreed to it. “Sa buong shooting namin may time na bati kami, may time na hindi kami bati. Meron din naman na na-missed namin ang isa’t isa kaya panay lambingan namin. Kaya nung mga huling days, na-discover namin na pagka-work, work talaga.”
On mending the broken relationship
The time they spent together while shooting in some romantic places in Baguio gave life to the characters they portrayed. The two young artists said that it helped them slowly forgive and mend the wounds in their hearts.
“Nagkaroon ng time rin na syempre may ginagawa kaming pelikula, so kailangang mag-usap, kailangang ayusin to the point na syempre personally aayusin mo rin not just yung work relationship, pero yung personal na pagsasamahan namin,” Elisse told MB Life.
As newbies in the entertainment industry, the 23-year-old actor admitted that it was tough for them to work amid the misunderstanding. “First time rin namin na magkaproblema pero at the same time kailangan naming mag-work. Kaya naging lakas po namin yung mga taong nagpu-push sa amin. Hindi rin naman lahat ng artista nabibigyan ng ganito kaya sa’kin ano ba naman na i-treasure natin ito,” McCoy shared with MB Life.
When Life asked about the status of their personal relationship, the 23-year-old actress said that it is admittedly no longer the same.
“Dahil nga nabigyan ng time, nakakangiti kami ngayon, nakakatawa. So iyon yung importante for me. Para maging 100 percent komportable, it will take time. Pero ngayon, ang importante masaya, nakakangiti naman,” she said.
For McCoy, “Ako po masaya ako kasi nakikita ko siya, naggo-grow, at the same time ako rin. Hindi ko masasabi na gusto ko yung naging resulta, pero naniniwala kami na may reason ang lahat.”
“Sakaling Maging Tayo” revolves around love games and dares which led characters Pol (McCoy) and Laya (Elisse) to face their personal issues and start a possible romance. Directed by JP Habac (I’m Drunk, I Love You) who is known for getting inspirations from OPM musics, this again will feature songs from artists such as Moira dela Torre, KZ Tandingan, and Ang Bandang Shirley.
Has McCoy and Elisse truly set-aside their personal feelings for this movie? Find out and watch this coming January 16.
