Say hello to the new Facebook Messenger! The social media giant launched the “simplified version” of the messaging app in October 2018 and is now widely rolling out to users via a server-side update.

The new Messenger (AKA Messenger 4) will have three tabs instead of the usual nine. All conversations—both one-to-one and groups—are in the Chats tab. Then you have the People tab, this is where you can find friends, check My Day, and see everyone who is active right now. Meanwhile, the Discover tab allows you to connect with businesses, play Instant Games, follow the news, and more.

Although the update just started to roll out in the Philippines, Twitter users are already complaining about the new look.

While some are not happy with the update, others are having fun customizing chats with the new color gradients feature. With this, users can now use multiple colors to customize chat bubbles in conversations. You can see the colors change from one color to another, as you scroll up and down a conversation.

According to Facebook, Dark Mode and other exciting features are coming in the future.

“It can take time to get used to changes in an app you rely on every day, which is why we’re rolling out Messenger 4 in phases. We have a handful of new features we’re planning to introduce in the near future, like Dark Mode, a re-skinned interface that cuts down on the glare from your phone. So take your time, settle in, and we’ll be back with more soon,” it wrote.
