Despite all the legal battles she is going through against her former business partner Nicko Falcis, Kris Aquino is also going through serious health problems.
In a live video feed on her social media accounts, last Saturday, January 5, Aquino admitted that she has a “form of lupus.”
“Ang inamin ko po sa inyo is chronic spontaneous urticaria and that is true. I did not want to specify because Atty. Sig told me ‘wag mong sabihin ang iyong allergies kasi pinapadali mo for your enemies to kill you,” she said. In the video, Aquino’s legal team composed of lawyers Sigrid Fortun, Enrique Dela Cruz, and Nilo Divino joined her.
According to Mayo Clinic, “lupus is a systematic autoimmune disease that occurs when your body’s immune system attacks your own tissues and organs.” This causes inflammation that can affect various body systems including “joints, skin, kidneys, blood cells, brain, heart, and lungs.”
“Now I can tell you the truth, I am allergic to every single medicine that can cure you or manage your symptoms ‘pag may lupus ka,” she added. “All my doctors are doing now is delaying it. They are delaying the inevitable.”
On facing this life threatening disease, the 47-year-old producer said that all she’s praying is to live until her 11-year-old son James Carlos “Bimby” Aquino Yap, Jr. reaches the legal age.
“Until now yung mga kapatid ko hindi matanggap. Pinakiusapan ko lang sila… Because the boys have to be assured, come what may, meron silang matatakbuhan.” she shared. “Pero ‘yun lang po talaga ang hiningi ko. Sabi ko, ‘God give me the strength to forgive, so my sons can have me for just seven years.’”
Returning to Singapore
The day after her revelation, Sunday, January 6, Aquino flew to Singapore to do more medical tests.
In a video posted on her Instagram account, it shows her and son Bimby at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA).
In a separate post, Aquino wrote a detailed status of her overall health. She said that she was flying to Singapore “for more tests to determine why I have symptoms & blood test results seeming to confirm 2 autoimmune disorders SLE (a form of Lupus) and Thyroiditis” and to undergo “drug medicine challenge test.”
Last October 2018, she already went to Singapore for medical testing where it was found that she’s suffering from an autoimmune disease.
