The awards season kicked off as different Hollywood stars gathered to celebrate the best in film and television during the 76th Annual Golden Globe Awards held at Beverly Hills on Sunday, January 6 (Monday, January 7 Manila time).
Bohemian Rhapsody, the film about the legendary musician Freddie Mercury and his band Queen won the Best Motion Picture and its lead star Rami Malek for Best Actor in the Drama category. The actor also thanked Queen members Brian May, Roger Taylor, the late Mercury during his acceptance speech.
“Thank you to Queen. To you, Brian May [and] to you, Roger Taylor, for ensuring that authenticity and inclusivity exist in the music, in the world and in all of us. Thank you to Freddie Mercury, for giving me the joy of a lifetime. I love you, you beautiful man. This is for and because of you, gorgeous,” he said.

Christian Bale took home the Best Actor award for Vice while Olivia Colman won as the Best Actress for The Favourite in the Musical or Comedy category.
The Assassination of Gianni Versace: American Crime Story won Best Limited Series and the Best Actor award its Filipino-American actor Darren Criss.

Meanwhile, Sandra Oh just made history by becoming the first Asian host of the Golden Globes as well as the first woman of Asian descent to win multiple awards. Oh snagged her first one in 2006 for playing Cristina Yang in Grey’s Anatomy.
“I said yes to the fear of being on this stage tonight because I wanted to be here to look out into this audience and witness this moment of change. Right now, this moment is real. Trust me, it is real. Because I see you and I see you — all of these faces of change — and now so will everyone else,” Oh said.
