“I am deeply sorry for my reaction.”
Tony Labrusca issued a public apology on Friday, January 4, after reports came out that he shouted at an officer of the Bureau of Immigration at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport upon his arrival.
Through Instagram stories and on his Twitter account @tonythesharky, the 23-year-old actor apologized to the immigration officer. He admitted that he allowed his emotions get the best of him after finding out that he can only stay in the country for 30 days.
“I want to extend my sincerest apology to the superior Immigration Officer (I.O) who was on duty and I had a talk with yesterday morning, 03 January 2019,” he wrote.
Labrusca explained his side through narrating the incident. “After lining up and crossing the immigration, I went to the superior IO and we ended up going inside an enclosed space inside her office to discuss privately,” he narrated. “I admit I was a bit frustrated, and that I asked why I was only given 30 days to stay in the country this time. I was unaware of the policy that because I was not with my mother, I did not qualify for a Balikbayan stamp.”
The “Glorious” star is the son of actor Boom Labrusca and former Kulay singer Angel Jones. He was born in the United States under the wings of his mother and his step-father.
“It was upsetting for me. And I’m sorry that I somehow took my frustrations out on the officer.”
However, Labrusca clarified that he didn’t belittle anyone nor used his status as a celebrity. “But never did I ever call anyone stupid, nor an idiot much less brag about being a celebrity. I know for a fact that the officer is merely doing her job.”
He said that his exhaustion from a long flight from Canada is not an excuse for his behavior and that he wants to start 2019 right by fixing this issue.
“I would like to start this year fresh both in my life and the people I’ve encountered with. Once again, I am deeply sorry for my reaction,” he ended.
