Trese, a Filipino comic series written by Budjette Tan and illustrated by Kajo Baldisimo, will soon have an anime adaptation on Netflix.

The announcement was made at the streaming service giant’s “See What’s Next Asia” event at the Marina Bay Sands on Thursday, November 8, by no other than Netflix director of international originals in anime, Taito Okiura. Jay Oliva, who has worked on Wonder Woman and The Legend of Korra, will serve as executive producer, while Shanty Harmayn and Tanya Yuson of Japan-based studio BASE Entertainment will be the show’s producers.

No release date was announced, as of writing time.

Trese is a horror/crime graphic novel that tells the story of investigator Alexandra Trese. She’s the go-to person when crime scenes appear to have supernatural involvement. Throughout the series, Trese goes head-to-head with Filipino monsters and paranormal beings, including aswang, kapre, and tikbalang.
