Christmas is just around the corner which means family reunions and parties are coming real soon. It’s that time of the year where we’re all thinking of gifts that we can give to our family and friends. It’s hard to think of something unique, we feel you. but we’re sure that you’re also tired of buying mugs, handkerchiefs, and other usual gift items.

Since a lot of us our trying our best to live a zero-waste life, why not buy eco-friendly gifts this Christmas? Aside from dining utensils here are more eco-friendly items that you can buy from local brands:

Shampoo bar

Using shampoo bars is like those times where our lolas used to clean their hair using bar soap, except this product is specifically for our hair. Using this can help eliminate the use of plastic packaging. Ecobar is one those local online shops that offers solid shampoo and conditioner. Their products are free of sulfates, parabens, silicones, and synthetic dyes. All naturals! They have three variants: Thickening, Hydrate, and Detox + Heal.

Watch

Utensils and skincare products are not the only things that can help us live a zero-waste life.  Just like this watch from Kawayan PH, accessories can be eco-friendly, too. As the name suggests, these watches are made from bamboo. It comes with different colors and designs for an affordable price.

Leather goods

Did you know that the production of leather goods can affect our environment and to the animals? Luckily, there’s a local brand that sells handmade plant leather goods made from water hyacinths that are infesting local waters. What’s more interesting about this brand is that they are providing livelihood to the communities. Aside from travel wallet, they also have bags, journals, and planners.

Washable cotton rounds

You’re probably using cotton rounds everyday to clean your face and to apply daily skincare products. To avoid the use of disposable cotton that can harm our planet, brands like Paraluman are selling washable cotton pads that are made with organic cotton and bamboo. White side of the pad is organic cotton terry and grey side is made from organic bamboo microterry. Each set contains 10 pieces and comes in a scrap canvas pouch.
