After their successful 81st season, Repertory Philippines (REP) has announced the exciting roster of shows set to stage in 2019. From a Philippine president’s story up to Ibong Adarna adaptation, check out REP’s 82nd season lineup:

Miong

February 15 to March 10

Director: Joy Virata

Cast: Tim Pavino, Noel Rayos, Cara Barredo, Meynard Peñalosa, Elver Esquivel

After watching the story of Heneral Luna and Goyo in the big screen, REP is now offering a musical based on the life of Emilio “Miong” Aguinaldo. It follows the life of Miong from his birth until the declaration of independence. The musical is filled with inspiring songs and stellar performances about courage and patriotism.

Father’s Day

March 22 to April 14

Director: Baby Barredo

Cast: Miguel Faustmann, Andres Borromeo, Liesl Batucan, Becca Coates, Rachel Coates

The legendary REP director Baby Barredo is back on stage with Father’s Day. It tells the story of Henry Willows (Miguel Faustmann) who is visited by his estranged son and his girlfriend. Overflowing with comedic banter, Father’s Dayunpacks its heavy themes with endless humor.

The Dresser

May 3 to May 26

Director: Loy Arcenas

Cast: Teroy Guzman, Audie Gemora, Tami Monsod, Jeremy Domingo, Robbie Guevara, Justine Narciso

The Dresseris all about companionship and the persistence of art in a time of war. As a touring theater company prepares for a production of King Lear, a tormented but brilliant thespian, arrives on set in a delusional state and his loyal dresser, does all he can to ensure that the show goes on. This is the first stage production directorial of Loy Arcenas, the man behind Ang Larawan.

The Quest for the Adarna

September 14, 2019 to January 12, 2020

Director: Joy Virata

Cast:  To be announced.

Your high school years is not complete if you haven’t seen a play about Ibong Adarna. But if you’re interested to watch a production about it, REP will be having an English adaptation of the Filipino epic. The Quest for the Adarnais written by Luna Inocian with music by Rony Fortich.
