Chilling Adventures of Sabrina

Starring Kiernan Shipka, Ross Lynch, Miranda Otto

Jacs (@jacs_do_it):

Okay gets ko na sa pilot episode, maraming narrative establishment na kailangan mangyari. But Chilling Adventures of Sabrina kind of goes into overdrive. The story goes all over the place, and it feels sort of disjointed. There are 10 episodes in season one. I wish they just spread the plot points a bit more. Love the actresses in this though; Lucy Davis and Miranda “I am no man” Otto FTW. Someone in the audience pointed out that Kiernan Shipka is like a young(er) Emma Watson. Take that as you will. Also, hindi para sa mahinang sikmura ang ibang scenes, bes. Thread lightly. 3/5

I remember watching Sabrina: The Animated Series when I was a kid. Though the 1999 cartoon is different from Netflix’s Chilling Adventures of Sabrina (CAOS), the main characters and the other deets from the Archie Comics are still there. I know that pilot episode pa lang ang nakita ko, kaso parang ang gulo ng storytelling, bes. But I love the woke millennial persona of Sabrina. I don’t know what to expect in the next episodes, pero I’m looking forward to more scary ones. Also, mukhang possible na mangyari ang rumors about sa Riverdale and CAOS crossover. Exciting! 3/5

I’ve never read the Archie Comics where the show was based from, but I find the Chilling Adventures of Sabrina intriguing. The lead character, Sabrina, is not the typical female character. She’s woke. She’s feminist. She’s headstrong. Though not much was revealed in the premiere episode (messy storytelling, TBH), I felt myself asking questions out of curiosity. What path will Sabrina choose and what happens afterward? I’m curious to see as well if the series will discuss its connection to Riverdale. 3.5/5
