‘Tis the season to go scream and shout. It’s finally appropriate to prepare for costume parties, go all out on house decorations, and go on a horror film binge. But don’t just stick to the classics for your film list, bes. Here are five of the most underappreciated horror flicks to get you in the spooky spirit:

This Australian flick tells the grim tale of a teenager who finds himself trapped and tortured by a demented father-daughter duo. Brent Mitchell (Xavier Samuel) doomed himself when he declined classmate Lola’s (Robin McLeavy) invite to a school dance. Ate gurl can’t just take the rejection. So ang eksena, gumawa siya ng sarili niyang prom. This is not what we call a happy crush, friends.

Aoyama, a widower played by Ryo Ishibashi, is at the center of this Takashi Miike masterpiece. He goes to a “screening” for a possible partner, and meets the beautiful Asami (Eihi Shiina). But soon enough, we learn that the woman has a dark and terrible past. Spoiler alert, bes: medyo krung-krung si ate gurl.

They Look Like People (2015)

What do you do if you think the world is getting taken over by evil? In this story, that’s the dilemma. If you want an unsettling, slow-burning narrative, fam, panoorin mo talaga ‘to. Wyatt (MacLeod Andrews) is convinced that a demonic apocalypse is coming upon us all to the great concern of his best friend Christian (Evan Dumouchel).

REC (2007)

REC is the definition of genuine terror. This follows the disturbing fate of reporter Angela Vidal (Manuela Velasco) and her team covering an emergency in an apartment building caused by a tenant’s violent behavior. The trailer doesn’t give you anything that will prepare you for this, so may extra scare factor when you get to see it.

The Visit (2015)

Becca (Olivia DeJonge) and Tyler (Ed Oxenbould) have never met their grandparents. When they get an opportunity to visit them for the first time, they jump at the chance and decide to document it. But upon spending with their lolo and lola, the children start noticing their bizaare behavior. It gets progressively nuts as the movie goes on. Afraid, mumsh.
