The rainy season is officially here. We’re pretty sure you want to stay indoors and chill, but kailangan kumita ng pera, friends. For those who need to brave the heavy downpour, flood, and insane traffic, here are some new tunes from local and international artists that you can add to your rainy day playlist:
1. New Light by John Mayer
John Mayer—or John Mayor, as he’s credited in this new record—just dropped his latest single and the video is one of the most hilarious things we’ve seen this year. I mean, ever imagined him wearing a purple hoodie and pyjamas while pretending to fly over a city? Kaloka mumsh. It’s the kind of “premium content” we want to see on YouTube. LOL.
Favorite line: “Oh, I want a take two, I want to breakthrough / I wanna know the real thing about you / So I can see you in a new light”
2. Recurring Dream by Ian Penn
After his successful Philippine Tour with Joee & I, Ian Penn is back with a new song. “Recurring Dream” is the track you want to listen to when you’re stuck in the middle of the rainy night. Pang-cuddle weather, bes.
Favorite line: “And my days revolve around you / And your days, revolve around me / What can I say? / It’s just a recurring dream”
3. Four Out Of Five by Arctic Monkeys
Unlike their other singles, Arctic Monkeys’ fresh track doesn’t have the heavy guitar sound. It’s more like a chill song that you can play whenever you’re exiting the office building. We love the Clockwork Orange vibe of the music video, and, of course, Alex Turner is still hot as ever. (Priorities anoba.)
Favorite line: “Take it easy for a little while / Come and stay with us / It’s such an easy flight
/ Cute new places keep on popping up”
4. Dekada by We Are Imaginary
Looking for a new senti song for the rainy season? We Are Imaginary gotchu, fam. The relaxing and dreamy vocals, and the guitar parts of “Dekada” is giving us all the feelzz. This song is for the times when you want to reminisce all the sweet moments with your past love. Aww.
Favorite line: “Nasan lambing sa iyong haplos na sa balat ko’y tumatagos? / Nadala ba ng dekadang nagdaan? / Pano dumating sa paglimos / Ng init na ngayo’y kapos”
5. Hunger by Florence + The Machine
Florence Welch and her powerful vocals are back. “Hunger” is the kind of song we all want to listen to whenever we feel gloomy. Just like Florence said in an interview, the song will let you “look for love in things that are perhaps not love.” All for the love, bes.
Favorite line: “At seventeen, I started to starve myself / I thought that love was a kind of emptiness / And at least I understood then the hunger I felt / And I didn’t have to call it loneliness”
