The return of ’90s fashion is so hard to un-see nowadays. But some of those who have lived long enough (wag na tayo magtanungan ng edad, bes): What’s considered uncool back in the decade of Space Jam, the Spice Girls, and Friends (come through nostalgia) have evolved to something runway worthy. It’s the sartorial equivalent of Revenge of the Nerds. The word on the street seems to be Oxygen-depleting-masikip is out, baggy-useful-comfy everything is in. Here are some examples:

1. Mom jeans

Mom jeans, Topshop

As unflattering and unpleasant as some of your life decisions back in the day (don’t give me that look, girl), this high waist bottom with long back pockets, and baggy fit around the zipper and leg area combo is now serving the lewk. Pair them with your fave “I hate mondays” tee and comfy footwear for your daily hustle on the streets of Manila.

2. Baggy pants

Un Tuck Trousers, Ader Error

The age of skinny has ended (thank God). We’re seeing a lot more comfy and cool baggy pants out there more than ever. Tuck in your shirt to complete the look, but save the hoodies for the -ber months. (Seriously, people, gusto niyo ba magka-heatstroke?)

3. Oversized shirt

Boundary T-Shirt, Ader Error

A shirt that’s never the right size usually causes a headache. (Aminin, palda talaga eto ano?) What was once a fashion in the time of tailored pieces has made fierce comeback—and we’re hella living for it. Wear it with baggy pants, do the half-tuck, and you’re good to go.

4. Chunky shoes

D’Lites 2 Sweet Monster, Skechers

Chunky shoes were once the Tito of sneakers, which used to be more at home with knock-knock jokes and belt bags (which also happens to be not so uncool these days. The belt bags, not the knock-knock jokes). Today, they’re the kicks of cool kids. Pair them with anything.

5. Fanny pack

From Gucci to Bershka, almost everyone is on this belt bag craze. Why? We don’t know. As mysterious as the dark side of the moon and whether or not your ex still has feelings for you, bes. Setting style debates aside, its practicality can’t be question though. You throw your stuff in and go.
