“An Intimate Evening with Stella Abrera & American Ballet Stars,” is a curation of Abrera’s favourite and timeless musical pieces such as Don Quixote, Pas de Deux (Stars and Stripes) and Romeo and Juliet. It runs just in time for the program’s 20th anniversary. A total of 1,500 students have already graduated from the program and the numbers will grow even more in the coming years.

Proceeds of the event will not only reinforce the current program for the students in Tondo, Manila and Bauan, Batangas, it will also help CENTEX teachers to share the program to public schools around the country who might be open to adopting the curriculum. Apart from math, science, and language subjects, CENTEX also offers after-school classes on arts, music, and dance.

“This wonderful gesture from Stella Abrera and her fellow American Ballet Stars provides a much welcome boost for the continuing development of the hundreds of students and teachers participating in the CENTEX program. It is exciting to see a world-class Filipino-American talent performing with all her heart on satge, while also providing our students the opportunity to become world-class professionals and Filipinos,” Ayala Foundation President Ruel Maranan said.

Abrera, the first Filipino-American to have gained the highest position of principal dancer in ABT, says the project is as much of a treat for them as it is for the CENTEX students.

“This is kind of a dream gig for all of us and ever since we arrived here in the Philippines, every experience has been remarkable, especially meeting the students,” she said during the show’s press launch yesterday.

ABT principal and soloist Isabella Boylston also expressed her joy for taking part in the show.

“The fact that we’re here with some of our best friends and some of the best dancers as well as the fact that it benefits such a worthy cause that impacts kids and their families, it’s been absolutely heart-filling,” she said.

An Intimate Evening with Stella Abrera and American Ballet Stars is happening on April 6 and 7 at the Maybank Theater, Bonifacio Global City. Tickets, already available for purchase on Ticketnet, are priced at P15,000, P12,000, P10,000, P6,000, and P4,000.

“These students, coming from economically disadvantaged families, are given the opportunity to pursue their dream. The opportunity to dream, particularly in the field of arts, is a rarity in cultures. In CENTEX, it is a reality for the students,” Maranan added.
